Greatest Basketball Players of all Time

To begin with, the National Basketball League has been around for at least 50 years. There have been alot of basketball legends that have done extraordinary things. Some of those players are: Michael Jordan, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Larry Bird, and Julius Erving. All of these players have had at least 3 championship rings, and Michael Jordan got almost all of his rings with the legendary coach, Phil Jackson. Another thing that they all have in common is their scoring ability, and their mentality to win.
One of the legends of basketball, that everyone knows, is Michael Jordan. When Michael Jordan was growing up he always wanted to be the greatest. Although, he wasn’t really the greatest in high school. He was cut from his 8th grade basketball team, and didn’t make his Laney High School Varsity team. He went to college at the University of North Carolina, and from there he became a legend. The first game that people started to look at him was when he made the game winning shot with 18 seconds left in the game. (”Michael Jordan’s Bio”) When he came out of college he had 2 national championship rings, and was going to the NBA Draft. He was picked number 3 by the Chicago Bulls. His first year at the Bulls he got rookie of the year, averaging 28.5 points per game, 6.5 rebound per game, and 6 unmatched assist per game. When he signed a contract with Nike, after the first year he made his own brand, called “Air Jordan.”After this he played Larry Bird and the Celtics, and averaged 47 PPG. Although they lost this series, He still ended up with 6 rings when he retired from the Chicago Bulls.(”Michael Jordan Summary”)
The next superstar in the NBA, that everyone knows, is Earvin “Magic” Johnson. This NBA legend went to Everest High School in the state of Michigan. He wasn’t that good in high school, but when he got to college that changed. He signed with Michigan state, coming out of his forth year of High School. He was drafted to the Los Angeles Lakers, as the first overall pick.(”Magic Johnson Summary”) He also set the record for the tallest and biggest point guards; He was 6 foot 9 inches. He played 13 years in the NBA, and came down with his nickname Magic. He got this nickname from his stunning three point shot. After a game he was interviewed, and he said,”it was almost like Magic.”He ended with 5 championship rings, just one under Michael Jordan. (Magic Johnson Bio”)
Last but not least, The superstar, that played at the Boston Celtics, is Larry Bird. Bird was well known for his unnatural shooting ability. He could make almost anything from the three point line. He played thirteen season, and played against some of the hardest working players, and still became an unstoppable legend. He would leap over chairs, fans, and benches just to recover a loose ball; He was always determined to win. Larry Bird was a clutch player, which means he was a scorer, a passer, a re-bounder, and a team player.(”Larry Bird’s Bio”) Bird had so much self confidence in himself, that he would go up to the other players bench and predict a 40 point game for himself. He was definitely among one of the greatest.
All there of these people have the same thing in common. THEY WANT TO WIN. They were determined for there name to be brought up when they were talking about basketball on Sportscenter.(”Top 50 Basketball Players in the NBA”) In conclusion, they all became legends, and changed the style of basketball.Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson all have the ability to win, score, and become a legend. They have all had Championship Finals rings. All three of these players made basketball what it is today.
